Fiscal surplus in January-August 2015 MOP28.9 bln

The government’s fiscal surplus was MOP28.9 billion (about US$3.61 billion) in the first eight months this year, 60 percent less than in the corresponding period last year, the Financial Services Bureau says.

The bureau’s data show government revenue fell by 32.3 per cent to MOP72.7 billion, or 68.1 per cent of the amount budgeted for this year.

Revenue from direct taxes on gaming fell by 35.5 percent to MOP58.6 billion.

Government spending rose by 25.5 per cent to MOP43.8 billion.
