Change responsible gambling slogan, academics urge

Academics have suggested that the slogan of Macau’s campaign for responsible gambling be changed to “Don’t gamble when drinking” or “Don’t drink when gambling” from “Don’t gamble when drunk”.

The suggestion is contained in the report on a study by academics at the Macau University of Science and Technology and the Monash University Malaysia entitled “Gambling, Drinking and Quality of Life: Evidence from Macau and Australia”.

Their argument is that it is harder for a gambler to stop gambling after he is already drunk.
