Leong expects MOP16 bln gaming revenue in June

Secretary of the Economy and Finance Lionel Leong forecasts that casino gross gaming revenue will be about MOP16 billion (about US$2 billion) this month, one-fifth less than last month.

Mr Leong, speaking to reporters, indicated that the government would reduce its spending if gaming revenue fell to MOP15.7 billion or below this month, which would make average monthly gaming revenue in the first half of this year under MOP20 billion.

He said the government was already cutting costs, but that reductions in spending would not make people worse off or hinder public works projects.
