Macau’s migrant labour force increases to 173,358

The number of migrant workers in Macau had risen to 173,358 by the end of last month, 20.6 per cent more than a year earlier, police data indicate.

The data show that the number of migrant workers from the mainland rose by 23.6 per cent to 112,110. The number of Filipinos in the migrant labour force rose by 13.2 per cent to 22,154.

The number of migrant workers employed in construction grew by 59.6 per cent to 46,418, and the number employed in hotels, restaurants and the like increased to 43,377.
