Govt may let future on-call taxis charge extra

The government will consider letting on-call taxis charge more than ordinary cabs, Transport Bureau head Wong Wan has said.

Mr Wong told reporters after a meeting of the Transport Advisory Committee that future licences to run taxis that can be summoned over the phone might allow the operators to charge extra for their services.

The last operator of on-call taxis pulled out of the business, having failed to persuade the government to let it charge extra.
