Macau had nearly 1.03 million visitors over the Lunar New Year holidays, 3.24 per cent more than in the equivalent period last year, official data show.
Most visitors were mainlanders.

Macau Government Tourist Office director Maria Helena de Senna Fernandes said: “The growth of mainland Chinese visitors was 5 to 6 per cent, which is in line with our expectations.”

Ms  de Senna Fernandes said having the Hengqin Island border crossing open around the clock helped increase the number of mainlanders that visited.
The Border Gate was the point of entry for 934,677 people and the point of exit for 949,947.

Another 226,177 entered through the Outer Harbour Ferry Terminal and 213,274 exited through the terminal.
