January airport passenger throughput rises 3 pct

Over 430,000 passengers used Macau International Airport last month, 3 per cent more than a year earlier, the airport operator says.

The operator says the fastest growth was in the number of passengers going to or from Southeast Asia, who made up 44 per cent of the total.

Fewer passengers came or went to mainland China or Taiwan.

The number of takeoffs and landings the airport handled rose by 6 per cent to 4,700.
