The US$51.6 billion (MOP412 billion) that visitors spent in Macau in 2013 was the fifth-largest amount that tourists spent anywhere in the world that year, the United Nations says.

The latest UN World Tourism Barometer report says annual spending by visitors in Macau increased by 13.7 percent in 2013, growing at the second-fastest rate among the 10 economies that had the most receipts from tourism.

The United States had the largest receipts, US$139.6 billion in all, while China had the fourth-largest and Hong Kong the 10th-largest.
