Jobless figures steady in trimester ended November

The unemployment rate was steady at 1.7 percent in the three months ended November 30, Statistics and Census Service data show.

The data indicate that the number of unemployed was 6,900 or thereabout, unchanged from the trimester ended October 31.

The underemployment rate rose by 0.1 percentage point to 0.4 percent

The labour force numbered 403,100 and the labour force participation rate increased to 74.4 percent.

The number working in gaming rose by 1.6 percent to 85,900 and the number working in construction rose by 1.9 percent to 56,800.

The workforces of the restaurant and hotel industries shrank slightly.
