Asia-Pacific share of intl tourists tipped to grow

Countries in Asia and the Pacific had 248 million visitors from abroad last year, about 23 percent of all the world’s international tourists, according the first joint report on Asian tourism trends by the UN World Tourism Organisation and the Global Tourism Economy Research Centre.

The UN tourism body forecasts that Asia-Pacific countries will have 535 million visitors from abroad each year by 2030, or 30 percent of all the world’s international tourists.

The report was released at the Global Tourism Economy Forum, which opened in Macau yesterday.
