Macau to be world’s biggest tourism money-spinner

Macau will supplant the United States as the place where tourists spend most money four years from now, the Jornal Tribuna de Macau reports.

The Portuguese-language newspaper, citing Pacific Asia Travel Association forecasts, says Macau will have annual tourism revenue of US$269.9 billion (MOP1.6 trillion) in 2018 – more than the United States and mainland China.

In 2012 Macau had tourism revenue of US$43.7 billion (MOP348 billion), the third-largest amount in the world.
