The Secretary for Transport and Public Works, Lau Si Io, said he is pondering measures to stabilize the property market, as the government is committed to promoting the healthy development of the housing sector.
“We will keep an eye on the results of the measures we’ve launched. We will pay close attention to the development of the market and we will not rule out the possibility of introducing new measures,” he assured, as quoted by TDM News.
The Property Agents and Realty Developers Association has indicated that property prices are not likely to decrease in the second half of the year. Its president, Mr Ung Choi Kun, has stressed that although the transaction volume within the property market has dropped, prices are still increasing.
He concluded by saying that, “property is in short supply. Before the laws and relevant regulations are in place, developers and administration’s hands are tied on this issue. This year, the property market won’t have price drops but the supply and transaction volume will remain low.”
