April hotel room rates increase 10.3 pct

The average room rate in Macau hotels was 10.3 percent higher last month than a year earlier, our sister publication Business Daily reports.

The newspaper, citing Macau Hotel Association data, says the average room rate rose by 15.3 percent to MOP1,026 (US$128.48) a night in four-star hotels, by 11.1 percent to MOP1,208 a night in three-star hotels and by 9.5 percent to MOP1,547 in five-star hotels.

The average occupancy rate increased by 2.3 percentage points to 90 percent in three-star, four-star and five-star hotels, the data show.
