Importation of 267 mainland domestic workers approved

The Human Resources Office has announced the definite list of those employers approved for hiring mainland domestic workers. Amongst a total of 312 applications received by the Office, 267 applicants met the requirements and have been approved for importing workers from the mainland.
264 applicants intended to hire domestic workers from Guangdong province and another 48 applicants intended to hire workers from Fujian province. 225 of the applicants intending to hire Guangdong workers have been approved, as have 42 applicants intending to hire Fujian workers. One of the approved applicants has since cancelled the importation of a Guangdong worker.
Due to the fact that the number of approved applications for importing Guangdong workers is greater than the original set quota of 200, whilst applications for Fujian workers sit below the 100 worker quota, authorities have adjusted the allocation of quotas after negotiation with the Central Government.
Since yesterday, the list of approved applicants has been posted in the Human Resources Office facility and on its website. Applicants can consult the list at the office, over the phone, or on the website.
The Office has also stated that due to the experimental nature of the scheme, the importation of domestic workers from the two provinces can only be managed through two specified employment agencies, each dealing with one province.
