Mandarin Oriental to keep up pace of expansion

Mandarin Oriental Hotel Group will persist with its rapid expansion in Greater China, an executive has said.

“In a few months we will open Mandarin Oriental Taipei,” said the general manager of the Mandarin Oriental Macau, Martin Schnider.

“We will open Mandarin Oriental Beijing in 2015, followed by hotels in Chengdu, Shenzhen and Chongqing within the next few years.”

Mr Schnider said China was his company’s second-biggest source of business.

The company also has plans for hotels in Bodrum in Turkey, Marrakech in Morocco, Milan in Italy, and in the Maldives and Abu Dhabi.
