As Christmas time fast approaches, restaurants in town have long been preparing traditional yet modern menus for those hoping to spend their holidays in a Macau casino resort hotel. From Italian to Portuguese to French dishes, a multicultural feast awaits those seeking to have a distinctive Christmas experience.
The Venetian’s Portofino restaurant is offering special menus for Christmas and New Year’s, featuring five-course dinners. On Christmas Eve, seafood is king. In a five-course menu available for MOP788, a soup of rich seafood, with pan-fried Barramundi, mussels and clams, awaits guests, followed by a homemade spinach tagliatelle, jumbo scallops, shrimps and white truffles. Dessert will be either poached red wine figs with cinnamon or brown butter panna cotta.
A sumptuous and festive buffet will be available on Christmas Day, tomorrow, at the Terrace Restaurant, in Hotel Okura. Another sumptuous festive buffet awaits Galaxy clients at the Festiva restaurant. For those wanting to give Macanese cuisine a try, Galaxy restaurant Gosto (Galaxy G/F) will provide a Macanese Festive Dinner Menu tonight and tomorrow for MOP388.
The Mandarin Oriental has also designed a Christmas-themed menu at its Vida Rica restaurant, featuring a four-course dinner, including duck liver terrine with Gluhwein reduction, blue lobster with caviar, and pan-seared wild sea bass with champagne risotto. This Christmas Eve dinner costs MOP1088 per person.
The recently opened restaurant, Fado, at Hotel Royal, chose to offer a Portuguese-inspired menu, featuring Portuguese cured ham, “cannelloni” stuffed with Serra cheese and red wine poached pear, as well as steamed octopus with quail eggs and chickpea purée. The menu also includes grilled duck breast with green asparagus, cooked in “Brás style”, or roasted wine-marinated lamb, sautéed turnip tops and potatoes.
Dessert brings Portuguese traditional Christmas flavors, such as Portuguese sweet bread toast with egg cream, with more modern elements added: almonds, cinnamon and ice-cream. A Portuguese Christmas pudding with caramel, nougat and orange sorbet is also on the menu.
Among other restaurants, MGM’s Rossio is offering yet another festive buffet, intended to grab guests’ attention. A Christmas dinner buffet is available for MOP558 and, tomorrow, the restaurant provides a Christmas brunch too.
The Grand Hyatt Macau at City of Dreams is also hosting a Festive Fiesta, with an “authentic gourmet cuisine from around the globe” to be served at mezza9. At the table, European, Japanese and Chinese cultures meet to present dishes such as sashimi and seafood on ice, pan-fried foie gras, and Australian roast beef, among other delicacies.
