Home prices ‘extremely high’, 81 pct of people say

Four out of five Macau residents fear the price of housing puts home ownership beyond their reach, a survey has found.

The results of the University of Macau survey show that 80.7 percent of the 3,022 respondents thought the price of housing was “extremely high”.

Even so, nearly 19 percent said they would definitely buy a flat in the next two or three years and 38.1 percent said they might do so.

Official data show the average price of housing was MOP80,412 (US$10,052) a square metre in October.
