Govt collects MOP140 bln from gaming taxes: Lusa

The government will collect about MOP140 billion (US$17.5 billion) in taxes and other levies on gaming this year, according to calculations by the Portuguese news agency Lusa using data for the 12 months ended on November 30.

Lusa forecasts that the 35 percent direct tax on gross gaming revenue will bring in about MOP124.4 billion and other indirect taxes will bring in about MOP14.2 billion.

Lusa adds that casino operators paid around MOP1 billion in licensing fees for gambling tables and slot machines.
