【Talk At Sunset】Journalism & Peace – The media’s role in times of war

IAA Macao is pleased to announce the forthcoming Talk at Sunset event scheduled for 23rd January, Thursday! We invite you to an enriching evening filled with networking opportunities and valuable insights into the media’s role during wartime as a catalyst for peace, transcending geopolitical, economic, and commercial challenges.
Topic: Journalism & Peace – The media’s role in times of war
Speaker: João Francisco Pinto
Rotary Club Deputy District Secretary – Mongolia Affairs. He holds a degree in economics and has worked as a journalist for more than three decades and including his role as former TDM’s Portuguese & English News and Program Controller.

About the Talk
The media has always had a special relationship with wars and armed conflicts, which are events of great newsworthiness and public interest because of their implications. Journalists are trained to look for conflict and find wars irresistible. But journalists also have a role to play in peacebuilding.

About João Francisco Pinto
He is a Past President of the Rotary Club of Macau (20/21 and 23/24) and currently serves as Deputy District Secretary – Mongolia Affairs. As a media professional, he has worked within Rotary on projects of media literacy projects and, more recently, on the role of the media in times of war. He is also a member of the District 3450 Public Image
